RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN: “PEACE IN REGION IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE`S WELFARE”
Ankara, September 30 (AZERTAC). The second Black Sea Energy and Economic Forum started in Istanbul on September 29. This year event`s focus concerns the global, political and economic environment of the Black Sea-Caspian region and future changes in the region`s energy management and economic risks. The forum will be a venue for discussions on vision and strategies regarding Eurasia, Black Sea, the Caspian and Central Asia; as well as political and economic stability, the future of Eurasian energy following global financial crisis, export infrastructure of Eurasian natural gas, information technologies and regional cooperation.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening ceremony of the forum organized by the Atlantic Council. Addressing the event, Turkish Prime minister said that the establishment of peace in the region is very important from the standpoint of people`s welfare and stability. The current regional problems impede the consensus on Nabucco project. Problems in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia exert a powerful influence on neighboring countries, according to Erdogan. The event was also addressed by Ross Wilson, Former United States Ambassador to Turkey and Azerbaijan, and current Director of the Eurasia Center at the US Atlantic Council. At the event protocol on cooperation in energy field was signed by Turkish minister for energy and natural resources Taner Yildiz and Georgian energy minister Alexander Khetaguri.
