SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONS IN SPOTLIGHT
According to the State program on socio-economic development of regions, new power transmission lines have been laid, 64 new substations - built, over 600 transformers - installed and building of Astara modular electric power station - completed. This year, the similar stations will be put in commission in Nakhchivan, Sheki and Khachmaz, Ministry of Economic Development reported.
The gas network in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been reconstructed to improve natural gas supplies.
Gasification of Nakhchivan, Julfa, Ordubad, Sharur, Babek, Shahbuz, Kengerli and Imishli province was mainly completed in 2005 with the 500 thousand running meters gas pipeline laid.
Lerik and Yardimli will be provided with gas in the current year, while Beylaqan and Agcabedi - in 2007. Thus, gasification of Azerbaijani provinces will be completed except for the occupied territories.
