UN official praises Azerbaijan’s advancements in road safety

On July 2, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Jean Todt, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety.
The meeting focused on the Azerbaijan-UN cooperation agenda, international collaboration on road safety, as well as global initiatives in this field.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the UN official on Azerbaijan’s ongoing reforms aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), developing a safe, sustainable, and modern transport system, and enhancing road safety across the country. In this context, he highlighted Azerbaijan’s progress in modernizing transport infrastructure, introducing digital solutions, and improving road safety. The Foreign Minister also noted the implementation of major road and infrastructure projects throughout Azerbaijan, including in the liberated territories.
Jean Todt, in turn, informed the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister about his activities as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, including efforts to prevent road accidents and promote international cooperation in this area. He also commended Azerbaijan’s achievements in improving road safety and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in this field.
The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
