Azerbaijan attends international conference on new cultural horizons for tourism in Bahrain

Baku, May 3 (AZERTAC). Rector of the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute Jafar Jafarov has participated in an international conference aimed at exploring new cultural horizons for tourism in Bahrain.
Initiated by the World Tourism Organization, the Conference aims to explore new horizons for cultural tourism, identify innovative means to widen communities’ involvement in the development of tourism products based on cultural heritage assets, in particular on the intangible heritage and living culture of host populations, thus, creating new socio-economic opportunities for all through sustainable and responsible tourism development.
Bahrain's tourism potential and how cultural heritage has become a key motivator for global travelers was highlighted during the conference.
Ministers, UNWTO representatives, experts, diplomats and tourism investors attended the event held as part of Manama Capital of Arab Tourism 2013.
The conference discussed issues relating to economy, tourism and culture and ways and means of boosting cultural investment.
The event will seek to underscore the need for a strong ethical foundation to ensure that cultural assets are responsibly managed for tourism.
The conferees adopted Manama Declaration.
