Azerbaijan, UNESCO discuss possibilities of expanding relations in tourism field

Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev has met with a delegation led by UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos.
Fuad Naghiyev briefed the delegation about the activity of the agency, as well as the tourism and heritage protection projects implemented in the country.
Naghiyev noted the importance of increasing cooperation in promotion of cultural and historical monuments of Azerbaijan included in the list of cultural heritage of UNESCO, as well as the importance of exchanging experience in the field of tourism.
Gabriela Ramos said that UNESCO and Azerbaijan have mutual interests in development of intercultural dialogue and cultural tourism through the promotion and use of common heritage along the Silk Road.
The sides discussed plans for the development of a new joint project.
The project will consist of a series of events including elements of cultural heritage and cultural tourism with the participation of a number of Silk Road countries.
