Azerbaijan showcases its tourism potential to China’s senior travelers

The Office of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) in Beijing participated in the “2026 Jiangsu Forum on the Silver Tourism Market,” held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, on September 22.
The forum brought together representatives of tourism authorities, airlines, cruise companies, hotels, financial and insurance institutions, travel service providers, and other industry stakeholders to exchange market insights and discuss opportunities for further cooperation.
During the forum, a presentation on Azerbaijan’s tourism offerings and travel experiences was delivered to industry representatives, highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage and gastronomy, diverse natural landscapes, and health and wellness opportunities. The presentation featured Baku’s blend of historic and modern architecture, Shaki’s Silk Road heritage and traditional craftsmanship, as well as Naftalan’s unique wellness resources. It also highlighted the visa-free travel regime between China and Azerbaijan, supporting increased travel opportunities for Chinese visitors.
China’s growing senior travel market represents an important segment for Azerbaijan. Travelers in this segment generally have relatively strong spending power, greater flexibility in their travel schedules, and a growing interest in high-quality cultural, leisure, and wellness experiences. These preferences align well with Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings and its potential to provide comfortable and culturally enriching travel experiences.
The forum provided an opportunity to introduce Azerbaijan as a tourism destination to travel trade partners in East China and the wider southern Chinese market.
Participation also enabled further engagement with regional industry partners, a better understanding of the travel preferences of senior Chinese travelers, and the exploration of opportunities to develop Azerbaijan tourism products tailored to this segment.
