Azerbaijani FM, CICA Secretary General discuss outcomes of 7th CICA Summit

On October 16, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The meeting focused on the outcomes of the 7th CICA Summit, held in Baku on October 15, Azerbaijan’s activities during its 2024–2026 CICA chairmanship, the priorities of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and the organization for the upcoming period, and CICA’s institutional development.
The officials stressed the importance of holding the 7th CICA Summit under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding and trust across Asia. They expressed confidence that the summit’s outcomes would contribute to enhancing the organization’s activities, expanding cooperation among member states and advancing joint approaches to common challenges.
They highlighted the significance of the agreements reached on the summit’s final documents in shaping the future direction of CICA’s activities and improving the organization’s efficiency.
Highlighting Azerbaijan’s extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy and its successful chairmanship of international organizations, the officials emphasized that the country’s CICA chairmanship aims to enhance the organization’s international standing, expand cooperation among member states and promote confidence-building measures.
The meeting also reviewed Azerbaijan’s efforts during its CICA chairmanship to accelerate the organization’s institutional development, improve its efficiency and increase the practical benefits it offers to member states.
The officials particularly underscored the importance of fostering cooperation in education, women’s empowerment, youth affairs, media, transport connectivity and other areas, as well as the role of established platforms in these fields. They noted that the initiatives implemented help promote the exchange of expertise among member states, strengthen mutual understanding and create concrete opportunities for cooperation.
Secretary General Kairat Sarybay expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for the successful organization of the 7th CICA Summit and the country’s contributions to the organization’s activities during its chairmanship. He also thanked Azerbaijan for its support throughout his six-year tenure as CICA Secretary General.
Sarybay highlighted the importance of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in advancing CICA’s development and fostering cooperation and trust among member states. He expressed confidence that efforts to enhance the organization’s activities would continue in the coming period and wished Sultan Hajiyev, the incoming CICA Secretary General, success in his future endeavors.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to Kairat Sarybay for his work as CICA Secretary General and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
