Azerbaijan’s CICA chairmanship serves to strengthen regional ties, minister says
Baku, October 15, AZERTAC
"I congratulate Azerbaijan on assuming the chairmanship of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which undoubtedly serves to foster and strengthen ties across Asia," Humayun Kabir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, said in his address at the 7th CICA Summit, held in Baku.
Emphasizing the need for multilateral institutions to operate more effectively, Humayun Kabir mentioned that the world is witnessing an erosion of trust, rising threats, and escalating conflicts, making the role of organizations like CICA more critical than ever.
He said that Bangladesh supports CICA’s transformation into a full-fledged international organization with a clear legal status, enhanced secretariat, predictable funding, and efficient decision-making mechanisms.
