A piano-and-violin arrangement of “Adagio” from “Seven Beauties,” a ballet by world-renowned Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev, has been included in the educational programme of Katrineholm Music School in Sweden. The initiative was launched at the suggestion of Azerbaijani pianist Aynur Malikova, who lives in Sweden.
“To showcase the richness of Azerbaijani classical music in Sweden and introduce our musical heritage to a wider audience, I sent the sheet music and a digital recording of the composition to Katrineholm Music School,” Malikova said.
She noted that the school’s principal, Hanna Moen, and violin teacher Sarah Carlsson were deeply impressed by the composition’s musical beauty, emotional depth and expressive power after listening to it.

“For me, this initiative is about much more than simply adding a musical work to a school’s curriculum. It is about promoting Azerbaijani culture internationally, introducing a new generation of young musicians in Sweden to the works of our great composer Gara Garayev, and building a cultural bridge between the two countries through music,” Malikova emphasized.
Malikova noted that the initiative’s greatest achievement was enabling Azerbaijani music to convey its message, reach listeners’ hearts and secure a place for the country’s musical heritage in another nation’s educational system.
This is the second composition by an Azerbaijani composer to be incorporated into music education in Sweden. Arif Malikov’s “Komde’s Dreams” had previously been included in the repertoire of Lidingö Music School.
