Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister meets with President of Laos

On October 14, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov met with President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized that the Lao President’s visit to Azerbaijan was of particular significance as the first high-level visit in the history of bilateral relations. It was noted that his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and the Joint Statement adopted during the meeting would give fresh impetus to the development of Azerbaijan–Laos relations.
The importance of the Lao President’s participation in the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was also highlighted.
Prime Minister Ali Asadov briefed the Lao President on Azerbaijan’s efforts during its 2024–2026 chairmanship of CICA to promote the organization’s institutional development, establish new cooperation platforms and advance practical initiatives.
The meeting also addressed prospects for bilateral cooperation in trade and the economy, transport and logistics, energy, humanitarian affairs, demining and other areas.
