Head of Azerbaijani Delegation to Euronest PA: European Union should apply economic and political sanctions against Armenia
Kiev, November 1, AZERTAC
“The doors to integration into Europe should be open to those who meet their standards. Armenia cannot be an example of EU integration. Armenia is in the same team with the country occupying the territory of another member state of the "Eastern Partnership". This is unacceptable. The European Union should take action against Armenia, apply serious economic and political sanctions,” said Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to the Euronest PA Fuad Muradov addressing VI plenary Session of the Euronest PA.
Fuad Muradov emphasized that Armenia's occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and seven surrounding districts undermines the European Union and Azerbaijan's dynamic cooperation in all spheres. He also stressed Azerbaijan’s interest in the development and deepening of relations with the European Union and its institutions. There is always a good dialogue between Azerbaijan and the EU in the economic, political and cultural spheres.
Fuad Muradov stated that Azerbaijan has sincerely cooperated with the European Union in the fight against terrorism and is an important EU partner in the energy sector. Speaking about the projects implemented by Azerbaijan, he hailed that they have a crucial role in diversifying the energy supply of the European Union countries.
“On October 30, the shortest and most reliable transport corridor between Asia and Europe, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway became operational. This is an important step in the transport links of the European Union, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Central Asia,” Fuad Muradov added.
Eastern Partnership program includes Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
