WORKSHOP ON JAPAN-AZERBAIJAN COOPERATION HELD
A workshop entitled “Japan-Azerbaijan Cooperation for Restoration of Great Silk Route in Contemporary World” was held in the Caucasus University, March 24. Opening the workshop conducted within the framework of the “series of workshops in 2003-2004 academic years” Rector Erol Oral told of historically friendly relations between Japan and Turkish speaking peoples.
Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fujiwara recounted of the Japan Government’s support to restoration of the historical Silk Route, economic and cultural development of independent Azerbaijan. Ambassador told of Japan’s intention to strengthen independence of the Central Asia and Southern Caucasus countries situated along the Great Silk Route and contribute to political stability in these countries. He stated that political course of the outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev would be successfully continued and promised further assistance of the Japanese government.
