“Art Bridge... Azerbaijan – Türkiye” exhibition launched at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
On May 19, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum held the opening ceremony of the “Art Bridge... Azerbaijan – Türkiye” solo exhibition, showcasing up to 50 works created in different styles and genres by artist Eldaniz Babayev. The event also included the presentation of an eponymous documentary film.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 55th jubilee of the artist and brings together several key points in terms of idea and content. The opening date, May 19, coincides with the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, reflecting the strength of historic, cultural, and spiritual ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The exhibition features portraits of Heydar Aliyev, National Leader of Azerbaijan; Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Founder of the Republic of Türkiye; military figures who played major roles in Turkic history and independence; and poets who expressed independence ideas in their works. It also includes the sketch of Babayev’s work “Atatürk Greets İşbank Employees – 1927 (2025),” currently displayed at the İşbank showroom in Istanbul dedicated to Atatürk.
Alongside these, the exhibition presents works reflecting the culture, traditions, and daily life of both countries. It also includes artistic expressions highlighting the historical friendship and cultural ties between the Turkic and Hungarian peoples, featuring ethnographic works and a portrait of the poet of independence Sándor Petőfi.
The exhibition concludes with portraits of Latif Karimov, an outstanding carpet scholar and People’s Artist, as well as carpet-themed compositions created on the occasion of his 120th anniversary.
The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Azerbaijan, TURKSOY, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, the Atatürk Centre, the Yunus Emre Institute, Baku Central Agency for Culture, the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve, and the Baku Art Gallery.
