AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV’S VISIT TO UZBEKISTAN
OPENING CEREMONY OF AZERBAIJANI CULTURAL CENTER IN TASHKENT
President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev participated in the ceremony.
The Head of State was sincerely welcomed by Director of the Center Fail Mammadov and Director of Uzbek International Cultural Center Timur Alimov.
President Ilham Aliyev opened the memorial board indicating that the street on which the Center is located bears the name of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. He also took off the white coverlet, symbolizing opening of founder of independent Azerbaijan, President Heydar Aliyev’s bust mounted in the Center’s courtyard.
After that, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan Aydin Azimbayev opened the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev described the Center’s opening as a very important event for over 40 thousand Azerbaijanis residing here since, according to him, it will allow our compatriots and their children to closely familiarize with Azerbaijani literature, culture, and to use various educational facilities.
Highly appreciating the results of his state visit to Uzbekistan, the Head of State pointed out that the talks with President Islam Karimov would give an impetus to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev congratulated the ceremony participants on the event, and described the opening of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center, as well as mounting of Azerbaijan nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev’s bust and naming the street on which the Center is located after him, as a graphic evidence of developing friendly and brotherly relationship between the two peoples.
With the ceremony completed, President Ilham Aliyev closely familiarized himself with the Center.
