®  Meeting between Latvian entrepreneurs and Caspian Energy Club representatives held

The Caspian Energy Club organized a round table with the participation of private sector representatives from the Republic of Latvia, announced Telman Aliyev, Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO.

The round table was attended by delegations from the Latvian Embassy, Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia, Caspian Energy Club, as well as representatives of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, top managers, and representatives of the Caspian Energy Club member companies.

Welcoming the guests of the event, Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO Telman Aliyev expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Latvia in Azerbaijan. “I am deeply grateful to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Edgars Skuja, who makes every effort to establish an open dialogue between Azerbaijani and Latvian companies. Business interests between two countries have seen growth in recent years, and initiatives from both sides promote the expansion of cooperation, including its scale,” he noted.

Speaking about the LEF Network project launched within the framework of the European Union Central Baltic program, Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO Telman Aliyev highlighted the project’s contribution to green technologies, IT, and education.

“I am very grateful to you for organizing today’s event and promoting dialogue between the private sectors of both countries,” emphasized Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja. Emphasizing the high significance of the event for Azerbaijan and Latvia, the Ambassador said that the Caspian Energy Club has become a long-term and reliable partner of Latvia.

“Thanks to today’s meeting, we received competent and professional answers to questions posed by representatives of our business circles. Our countries have broad and positive experience in bilateral cooperation in exports, imports, and new technologies. I believe there are areas where we can make our cooperation much broader,” noted Ambassador Edgars Skuja.

“We intend to expand cooperation between our two countries and increase the import/export of products between Azerbaijan and Latvia. I find today’s meeting very fruitful as we have listened to several presentations, and our businessmen obtained useful information and managed to establish business ties both the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan and private sector representatives,” said State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia Raivis Kronbergs. Speaking about future projects, the state secretary informed about the draft of a memorandum of cooperation that will be signed in the near future between Agriculture Ministries of Azerbaijan and Latvia.

Participating in the meeting were the delegation from the Caspian Energy Club - Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO Telman Aliyev, First Deputy Chairman of Caspian Energy Club and CFO Rasim Mahmudov, Managing Director of Caspian Energy Club International Gunel Guliyeva, member of the board of Caspian Energy Club Rashad Abasov, Head of the Customs Regulation Department Jafar Guluzade, Rashad Salmanov, Chief of Division Methodology of Customs Value, Head Department of Control on Customs Revenue, Gunash Hajiyeva, Chief Inspector of Division, Detection of Customs Risk, Bahaddin Mirza, Head of the Caspian Energy Club Customs Committee, Anar Aliyev, Director of Prime Financial Services; delegation of the Embassy of Latvia - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja, Deputy Head of the Mission Vija Busa, Elmira Mirzayeva, Adviser for Economic Affairs; delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia – State Secretary Raivis Kronbergs, Romans Naudins, Adviser to the Minister, Anzelika Lazdina, Assistant to the Minister, and Oskar Balodis, representative of the Public Relations Department.

Additionally, representatives from companies such as SIA Rēzeknes, SIA Cēsu, SIA Gaļas nams- Ādaži, SIA Kurzemes, SIA Kurzemes, AS Ķekava Foods, Latvian Poultry Association, Public organization VAKS, and AS Smiltenes were also on the guest list.

The round table continued with a question-and-answer session focusing on topics such as possibilities of VAT exemption for goods, legislative acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding export and import, customs legislation, provisions of the Customs Code, transportation logistics, acceleration of cargo transportation, measures taken by Azerbaijan to expedite transit across checkpoints and the state border, and duties.

In conclusion, Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO Telman Aliyev presented a certificate of gratitude to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvian Raivis Kronbergs.

Then, the informal part of the meeting started, providing participants with the opportunity to get to know each another better, converse, and exchange ideas.

Established in June 2002, the Caspian Energy Club brings together over 5,000 companies and organizations across 50 countries. As an active participant of the business-to-government dialogue, the major objective of the Caspian Energy Club is to improve the investment and business climate in Azerbaijan and other countries where the Club operates, as well as to encourage and actively engage in B2G, B2B and B2C dialogues.

Headquartered in Baku, the Caspian Energy Club is an international business networking platform that regularly hosts various events. The Caspian Energy Club has representative offices operating in Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Poland, Türkiye, UAE, Uzbekistan, as well as authorized representatives around the globe.

Caspian Energy Club International was established in 2023 with the aim of managing international projects of the Caspian Energy Club. Within five years, Caspian Energy Club International plans to open offices in 100 countries worldwide. One of the major functions of Caspian Energy Club International is to manage the Club’s activities in countries where no representatives are present and develop a general strategy for all foreign offices.
