Baku, April 20, AZERTAC
Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Monday with his Thai counterpart Sihasak Phuangketkeow on the margins of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), as part of his working visit to Bangkok.
The meeting focused on the current state and development of relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, stressing the existing potential for fostering these ties. The FMs reviewed ways of enhancing collaboration in economic, trade, cultural, and tourism domains.
The top diplomats underscored the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Thailand last December, as well as the first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries as crucial stages in the development of bilateral relations.
They further noted that such efforts contribute to boosting the institutional basis of Azerbaijan–Thailand relations and to developing constructive cooperation.
The Ministers pointed out the importance of mutual interaction on multilateral platforms. They reviewed fostering cooperation in the UN, UNESCAP, CICA, ASEAN, as well as other international organizations, expressing confidence that the 82nd session of UNESCAP, chaired by Azerbaijan and hosted by Thailand, would deliver fruitful outcomes.
Minister Bayramov briefed the Thai FM on Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives implemented during the post-conflict period, including the country’s restoration and demining operations in its liberated territories.
