Azerbaijan, UN-Habitat expand cooperation

On March 13, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), who is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the Global Baku Forum.
The sides discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat, including sustainable urban planning, the management of urbanization processes, and prospects for partnership in the sustainable development of cities.
They also exchanged views on the preparation process and plans for the upcoming World Urban Forum 13 (WUF-13).
The parties emphasized that the large-scale restoration and reconstruction in the liberated territories, the rebuilding of destroyed cities and villages, and the creation of residential areas based on modern urban planning principles represent significant examples of Azerbaijan’s efforts in the field of urbanization.
The officials also discussed the current security situation in the Middle East and the growing tensions in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the current regional situation, the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process, and Azerbaijan’s position and initiatives aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the post-conflict period.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
