AZERI CITIZENS ‘TO TRAVEL VISA-FREE’ TO IRAN FROM FEBRUARY
Baku, 26 January (AZERTAC). Citizens of Azerbaijan will be allowed to travel to Iran without a visa from February 1, an Iranian embassy official has said.
Bahruz Zare Mirzae, head of the consulate department at Iran`s embassy in Baku, said: “Iran has decided to drop visa requirements for the Azeri citizens travelling to the country.”
“Starting from February 1 the Azeri citizens will only need to submit a health certificate if they want to visit Iran. The certificates can be received from clinics in Baku, Ganja and Lankaran cities.”
Zare Mirzae said: “Those who need to stay more than 15 days can apply to the migration service of Iran`s Internal Affairs Ministry.”
The embassy official expressed hope the elimination of visa requirements would boost the number of Azerbaijanis going to Iran.
“Today an average of 200 or 250 people per day apply to the consulate department for travelling to Iran. We believe, from now on, the number of Azeri citizens going to visit Iran will considerably increase,” added Zare Mirzae.
