AZERI CULTURAL HERITAGE EXHIBITION OPENS IN STRASBURG
Baku, June 22 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee organized an exhibition featuring cultural heritage of Azerbaijan at the Council of Europe Headquarters.
President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Mevlut Cavusoglu has opened the exhibition.
Head of the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said that since 1998 Azerbaijan State Customs Service has confiscated 1460 antique items. The major part of them have been given to the museums of Azerbaijan while the rest is housed by the special museum under the patronage of the Committee.
The puspose of the exhibition, according to Aliyev, is to present Azerbaijan cultural and historical heritage, including those samples, which have been destroyed by Armenian occupants, to the Europeans through the confiscated artworks.
The exposition features ancient national Azeri dress, weapons, household goods, carpets, pouches, painting and other items.
European MPs, members of the Azeri diaspora in Strasburg have been among the visitors.
