Baku, January 22 (AZERTAC). Doctors in Azerbaijan have saved the life of a Pakistani boy whose parents asked pilots of the plane they were on board to make an emergency landing in Baku after their baby went into convulsions and became short of breath.

The craft, on route from Pakistan to the UK, landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, at around 16.00.

Alisa Khaleed, 3, was immediately taken to a hospital with his whole body convulsed and dehydrated.

Doctors spent two hours to rescue the child whose condition was believed to be “extremely severe”.

Nasib Guliyev, senior pediatrician at the Scientific Research Pediatric Institute, said the child “was brought to the hospital in a very critical condition”.

“His whole body was convulsed and dehydrated, he could hardly breathe. We did our best during the two-hour operation and were a success. We examined the boy to have found that he was already infected while in his homeland.”

The boy`s condition is now partially critical, and he will be discharged in a couple of days, the doctors say.

Pakistan`s ambassador in Baku Abdul Hamid made a statement, immediately after the incident, to praise the Azeri doctors` “life-saving efforts”.
