Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh’s poems recited in Helsinki

A literary event dedicated to the works of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh has been organized at the Azerbaijan House in Helsinki, Finland.
Within the framework of the event, 50 of the poet's poems and his poem "Gulustan" were translated from Azerbaijani into Finnish by writer and translator Tahira Jafarova. The project was supported by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and published by Finland’s Palladium Kirjat publishing house.
Ulviyya Jabbarova, head of the Helsinki Azerbaijan House and organizer/host of the event, emphasized the significance of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh’s work in Azerbaijani literature and noted that such projects strengthen intercultural dialogue.
During the program, the poet's works were recited in both Azerbaijani and Finnish. The evening featured a piano performance by Leyli Huseynova, with poetry recitations by Sevinj Rustamova, Sabina Mirzayeva, Sura Aghaverdiyeva, and Mona Safocifar. Additionally, a video in Finnish prepared by Ulviyya Jabbarova regarding the poet’s life and legacy was presented.
This literary evening serves as an important step in promoting Azerbaijani literature in Finland and contributes to the further strengthening of cultural ties between the two countries.
The event was attended by well-known Finnish writers, professors from the University of Helsinki, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, and figures from the arts.
