China: at least 16 die in floods

Baku, June 25 (AZERTAC). At least 16 people were killed over the past three days due to flooding caused by torrential rains in southern and Northern provinces of China. This information was made public by local authorities.

Heavy downpours that have continued for several days have resulted in the destruction of at least a thousand houses, forcing nearly 450,000 people to leave their homes. According to the authorities, the damage to the economy is estimated at around $ 20 million.

Meteorologists warn that the rains show no sign of abating in the near future, and possibly will only increase.
