Expert of Platts: Azerbaijan conducts most stable and consistent oil and gas policy in region
Baku, October 7 (AZERTAC). Turkmenistan does not demonstrate activity, which Azerbaijan demonstrates in studying and implementing routes to export its gas to world markets, John Roberts, a representative of Platts leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information, said in his speech at the 6th KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum in Astana this week.
"If Azerbaijan is taking active steps to discover and develop natural gas reserves, as well as to study and implement ways to export them to world markets, Turkmenistan, taking a passive position, is waiting for proposals for route options from others, and does not provide the necessary support for the proposed routes," Roberts said.
He said the gas reserves of Azerbaijan will continue to grow not only due to the offshore Shah Deniz field, but at the expense of other structures.
"The European Union mainly supports only the Nabucco project, and the necessary support is not provided to other projects," said Roberts.
As for Kazakhstan, the international expert, questioning its active or passive role in this regard, said that the time will tell it.
In general, stressing that Azerbaijan conducts in region the most stable and consistent oil and gas policy, he indirectly set it as an example for other countries in the region.
"Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are also the most reliable transit countries in the region," said Roberts.
In general, in his speech, the expert identified Azerbaijan as the most stable and active country in the region. He stressed the need to take more active steps to prove the serious intention of Turkmenistan to export gas to Europe.
