INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS MONITOR AZERI MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS AT BINAGADI DISTRICT OF BAKU
Baku, 23 December (AZERTAC). As earlier reported, a delegation of the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities is monitoring the municipal elections in Azerbaijan.
Mrs Renate Zikmund, Head of the Division of Communication, International Relations and Election Observation, Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, and Mr. Istvan Borbely (Hungary) were monitoring the vote at the 1st polling station of 8 Binagadi district.
Prior to the vote, international observers were informed that there was no legal abuse during the voting; ballots, ballot boxes and polling-booths are ready. The number of electorate at the First polling station is 1039. The station sees 94 candidates running for a 19 seats.
Some 1371 voters will ballot at the 30th polling stations. The Binagadi polling stations are equipped with webcams to ensure transparency during the election. International observers are to make a statement on the election results at December 24 press-conferences.
