International Students Club established at Baku Engineering University
Baku, April 9, AZERTAC
An International Students Club has been founded at the Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Speaking at the event held for this purpose, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized that the number and geographic diversity of international students enrolled at the university have expanded considerably in recent years. Students from 40 countries are currently studying at BEU, reflecting an approximately twofold increase in both the number of countries represented and the number of students compared to previous years. This dynamic is not only an indicator of the university's integration into the global education landscape and its growing international standing, but also necessitates the establishment of institutional mechanisms that will ensure the academic and social integration of international students in a more systematic manner.
Noting that more than 20 student clubs are currently active at BEU and that the addition of a new club composed of international students is a commendable development, Rector Yagub Piriyev also drew attention to the significance of this initiative in terms of promoting the principles of multiculturalism within the higher education environment. He noted that bringing together international students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds on such a platform will make an important contribution to fostering dialogue and tolerance, as well as to the mutual enrichment of different values. Calling on club members to be active in implementing new social projects and ideas and wishing them success in their endeavors, the rector stated that the work carried out would ultimately have a positive impact on the development of students' leadership and communication skills.
Following the subsequent remarks, Peter Malale — a student from Kenya enrolled in the Industrial Engineering specialization who was elected club president – presented information regarding the club's future activities. It was noted that the club's scope of work includes the organization of student-oriented events, including academic seminars, cultural days, integration programs, and various social projects. Expressing his gratitude for the trust placed in him, Peter Malale also thanked the university administration for creating an environment in which students can realize their potential.
International students who subsequently took the floor put forward various proposals. They also emphasized that the International Students Club will open broad opportunities for them to implement their initiatives, present themselves, and participate more actively in university life.
