Kazakhstan joins Declaration to triple nuclear energy by 2050

Kazakhstan has announced its joining the Declaration to Triple Nuclear Energy by 2050, said Sungat Yessimkhanov, Kazakh Vice Minister of Energy, as he addressed an event held as part of the COP29 in Baku.
He described Kazakhstan’s accession to the declaration as a major step forward to a sustainable and green future. The Kazakh Vice Minister underscored that his country remains committed not only to strengthening energy security but also to contributing to the global reduction of carbon emissions in cooperation with the global community to achieve the common goal.
Sungat Yessimkhanov added nuclear energy was recognized within the framework of the first global stocktake of the Paris Agreement as one of the key solutions for achieving the goal of limiting the temperature increase by 1.5°C, according to the press release.
Kazakhstan views nuclear energy as an important component of its future energy balance, which will allow the republic to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, to increase the share of clean energy sources and to ensure reliable energy supply.
