London hosts Khojaly commemoration concert

London, February 27 (AZERTAC). London has hosted a concert commemorating the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.
Organized by the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), the event was attended by staffers of Azerbaijan`s embassy, British government officials, and
Azerbaijani students in London and other foreign countries.
Ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov opened the event to provide an insight into history and consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, particularly the Khojaly tragedy.
The Ambassador said that in accordance with international laws and conventions the Khojaly tragedy was an act of genocide and a crime against humanity.
He also drew the audience`s attention to the Justice for Khojaly campaign initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, General Coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation.
President of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), Taleh Heydarov, spoke of the Khojaly massacre.
British MP Christopher Pincher noted the Khojaly tragedy should never be forgotten. He praised the efforts of the Azerbaijani government towards making the realities of the Khojaly massacre known to the world community.
The concert featured performances by young Azerbaijani violinist Sabina Rakcheyeva and London-based Orion Symphonic Orchestra.
The event also saw a presentation of a new piece, Khojaly 613, composed by Pierre Thilloy, dedicated to the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, which received its world première in Paris on 21 February.
