- Ladies and gentlemen, hello. I am Toru Mizutani, the president of Kyodo news, on behalf of Kyodo I would like to offer my wholehearted congratulations to Mr. Aslan Aslanov, chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan State News Agency and all of its staff on the centennial of the founding of the news agency on March 1st. I wish the Azerbaijan State News Agency much success in the year ahead. Mr Aslanov hosted the News Agencies World Conference and General Assembly of The Organization of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies in Baku 2016. I highly appreciate your contribution to the development of news agencies. Kyodo will mark the 75th anniversary of its founding this year. Headline making news continue to come from the Asia Pacific region, Tokyo will host the summer Olympics and the Paralympics this year. As digitalization is rapidly advancing on a global scale, new convenient tools represented by smartphones have and users to exchange a huge amount of information. At the same time, such issues as fake news has emerged around the world. It is becoming more important than ever before for news agencies to stick to their functions and roles of the delivering fair and accurate news as quickly as possible. I would like to congratulate the Azerbaijan State News Agency on its centennial and I hope to see their further development of not only news agencies but also the world media industry and journalism.
