Russian President Putin responds to 53 questions from journalists during 3-hour press conference

On December 18 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held his tenth annual press conference with Russian and foreign journalists. During the session, Putin discussed important issues that Russia is currently facing: the situation in Ukraine, the fall of the ruble and economic problems, as well as intensifying relations with the West.
Over the course of 3 hours and 10 minutes he responded to 53 questions from 39 journalists. His traditional year-end meeting with journalists was one hour shorter than last year. The press conference came at a time when the financial and economic situation has taken a sharp turn for the worse combined with negative environment on the international arena.
The president’s news conference was broadcast live by Channel One, Rossiya-1 and Rossiya-24 TV channels, and by the Radio Rossii, Mayak and Vesti FM radio stations. 1259 Russian and foreign journalists were accredited to cover the news conference. According to the lists posted on the Kremlin official website, reporters from Japan, the United States, Iran, Germany, France, Romania, Belarus, Sweden, Israel, China, Denmark, Spain, Poland, Azerbaijan, Vietnam and the United Kingdom were accredited.
