Speaker Gafarova meets with head of UK–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Bob Blackman, Member of the UK Parliament and Head of the UK–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.
During the meeting, the sides described interparliamentary ties as one of the key components of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.
They welcomed the close cooperation established between the two legislatures and the expansion of mutual contacts.
Recalling her visits to the United Kingdom and meetings with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the UK House of Commons, as well as reciprocal visits by parliamentarians, Sahiba Gafarova noted that these exchanges contribute to the further development of relations between the two parliaments.
The parties also highlighted the importance of maintaining an active dialogue between the friendship groups and strengthening cooperation within international parliamentary organizations.
Bob Blackman emphasized that the United Kingdom attaches great importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan, noting the important role of parliaments in this process.
The meeting also included discussions on the current situation in the region and the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova briefed Bob Blackman on the large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in the liberated territories.
