TURKEY WILL NOT TAKE STEP CONTRADICTING AZERBAIJAN`S INTERESTS’
Baku, 19 December (AZERTAC). “Turkey will not take any step contradicting interests of Azerbaijan. Our countries are always ready to support each-other,” Turkish ambassador to Russia Khalil Akinci told AZERTAC`s special correspondent.
The ambassador said relations between the two countries were based on the “one nation, two states” formula initiated by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
He noted some problems can emerge in relationship between the two countries, but they are possible to resolve, because “we are bound together by friendly ties”.
Touching upon normalization of relationship between Turkey and Armenia, the diplomat pointed out unless the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved, protocols signed between the two countries will not be ratified.
Upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Akinci noted his country`s policy on the issue remains unchanged. “Turkey pursues a policy of peace and stability in the region.”
The diplomat said during his visits to U.S., France and Russia, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to increase their mediation efforts.
