Baku on first day of New Year: festive mood and city tour VIDEO
Baku, January 1, AZERTAC
The latest feature in AZERTAC’s “If I Were a Tourist” column highlights the festive atmosphere in Baku on January 1.
Residents of Azerbaijan’s capital and city guests celebrate the first day of the New Year with vibrant festive energy. The city center, particularly the Seaside National Park, Icherisheher, and main avenues, is beautifully decorated.
Those strolling along the boulevard are greeted by the cool breeze of the Caspian Sea. Steps slow on the seaside promenade as the waves murmur the first words of the year to the shore. The cold air brushes the cheeks, while the steam rising from the hot river softens the mood. People observe more than they speak—watching the sky, the sea, and one another. Words are not needed on this day.
In Icherisheher, it feels as if visitors are walking through time. New Year’s decorations along the stone streets create a delightful contrast with the ancient walls.
The festive spirit is palpable throughout the city.
Various entertainment programs and activities for children organized during the holidays add to the special atmosphere in the capital.
Happy New Year! We wish everyone a year full of new hopes and fresh beginnings.
