USAID SUPPORTS SMES IN AZERBAIJAN
US Agency for International Development (USAID) held an event on Monday at Isr Plaza Hotel to mark the completion of the Rural Enterprise Competitiveness Program (RECP) in all regions of Azerbaijan.
USAID-funded program implemented by Pragma Corporation, International Executive Service Corps (IESC) and International Flag Organization is aimed to support development of small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises in Azerbaijan.
Since 2003, RECP has worked with 127 small and medium-sized enterprises, increasing investments up to US $ 25 mln and opening over 4 thousand jobs, said USAID country coordinator for Azerbaijan Scott Taylor. Chief economist of USAID Baku office Paul Davis underlined that Rural Enterprise Competitiveness Program envisaged technical assistance to improve local sale of products, strengthen foreign and local investments, prepare profitable business-plan.
Since 1992, USAID has spent US $ 284 mln in Azerbaijan.
