AZERBAIJAN AND CUBA TO DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR COOPERATION
Baku, 28 January (AZERTAC). Prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba in the economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres will be discussed in Havana on March 3-8 as part of the third meeting of the joint commission, ambassador of Cuba to Azerbaijan Marcello Caballero Torres told journalists.
The meeting will give renewed impetus to the economic and trade links, according to the diplomat. However, much has to be done in this regard for the development of bilateral relations.
"To solve this problem, a mechanism of intergovernmental joint commission on cooperation between the two countries is applied since 2007. Up to now, we have already held two meetings, signed three important agreements on cooperation in culture, tourism and sports, and 10 more agreements on cooperation in such fields as energy, health, communications and agriculture are in the process of signing," the diplomat said.
According to the Ambassador, Cuba plays closer attention to the equipment and machinery produced in Azerbaijan. "Currently, about 70 percent of the equipment used by Cuba in the petroleum industry comes from Azerbaijan. We are also interested in food and agricultural products. Other possible spheres of collaboration are communication, health and medicines," the Ambassador undrelined.
The spheres of mutual interests are enough, the Ambassador said. "The most perspective areas of our economic relations include tourism, oil and gas, IT, pharmacology, health, education and sports» said the ambassador.
Also the Days of Azerbaijan culture will be held in Cuba as part of the Havana meeting.
