Azerbaijan, Cuba sign intergovernmental agreement on ICT sphere
Baku, October 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani delegation consisting of representatives from ICT sector led by Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov was on an official visit to Cuba. Cuban -Azerbaijani Business Forum on ICT was held in Havana (Cuba) on October 8. Cooperation on ICT between the two countries was discussed, and an agreement on exchange of scientific achievements in Cuban leading University of Information Sciences was reached.
Then, Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba met with the Communications and Information Minister. During the meeting the sides discussed the mutual relations and signed intergovernmental agreement on ICT sphere. Both sides established working groups for implementation of provisions of the agreement and first meeting of the working group was held in Havana on the same day.
Besides, Azerbaijani delegation held a meeting in the Cuban Postal Administration on October 9, informed of the achievements in post sector in Azerbaijan and exchanged the opinions.
The same day Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz received the Azerbaijani delegation. Thanking the Azerbaijani government for accepting the invitation, Vice President praised the issues regarding Azerbaijan`s investments in Cuban ICT sector, manufacturing of Azerbaijani computers in Cuba and sales in South America, as well as the expansion of Internet services to Cuba and gave instructions to the heads of relevant structures of Cuba on execution of the provisions of the signed intergovernmental agreement. R. Cabrisas Ruiz emphasized the essential role of the visit of Azerbaijani delegation, agreements signed in the framework of the visit, negotiations in strengthening economic relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba.
Note that the meetings were attended by Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Cuba Agshin Mehdiyev and Charge d`Affaires Ilham Agayev.
