Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia hold trilateral customs meeting in Goygol

The 5th meeting of the Trilateral Committee on Customs Matters among the Governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye was held in the Goygol district.
At the meeting, addressed by Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee; Sezai Uçarmak, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Trade; and Mamuka Baratashvili, Head of Georgia’s Revenue Service and Deputy Minister of Finance, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation among the customs services of the three countries.
The meeting reviewed previous agreements and outlined next steps, focusing on streamlining customs procedures along the Middle Corridor, accelerating transit, expanding electronic data exchange, and improving border-crossing efficiency. The sides also discussed facilitating transit under the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway project, risk management, advance electronic data exchange, and cooperation in combating customs violations.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol reflecting the agreements reached.
As part of the event, the 6th meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Affairs between Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee and Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade was also held. Discussions focused on the implementation of the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), simplification of customs procedures, development of TIR and e-TIR mechanisms, faster border crossings, and increasing the capacity to process freight vehicles.
The sides also exchanged views on expanding customs information sharing, combating customs violations, authorized economic operators, mirror customs statistics, and risk management, and explored opportunities for joint operations and training.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol on the agreements reached.
