Azerbaijani delegation joins WADA’s international conference in New Delhi
Baku, April 21, AZERTAC
A delegation of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency attended an international conference organized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as part of its Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN) in New Delhi.
The AMADA delegation included Chief Executive Officer Tahmina Taghi-zada and Head of the Results Management and Investigation Department Nijat Amiraslanli.
Along with AMADA, the conference brought together representatives of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (EUROPOL), as well as national anti-doping agencies from up to 70 countries.
During the event, discussions highlighted that the fight against doping is no longer confined to laboratory analyses and testing, and that a comprehensive approach based on global investigations and law enforcement cooperation has emerged in this field. Participants stressed that an effective fight against doping is only possible through international cooperation.
Participants were also briefed on the latest phase of the GAIIN project, particularly the far-reaching and ongoing “Operation Upstream” investigation. This large-scale international operation has so far involved more than 20 countries and led to the seizure of several tons of performance-enhancing drugs in a highly complex transcontinental investigation coordinated by WADA, INTERPOL, and Europol.
