AZERI AMBASSADOR LECTURES AT KUWAIT UNIVERSITY
Baku, March 30 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani ambassador to Kuwait Shahin Abdullayev has lectured at Kuwait University on Foreign policy of Azerbaijan and Islamic Arab world and Azerbaijan.
The ambassador said Azerbaijan was the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, and enjoys centuries-old statehood traditions and historical and cultural heritage.
The diplomat spoke of the system of international relations which had shifted the course of Azerbaijan`s national security and foreign policy.
Abdullayev pointed out Azerbaijan entered a new stage of development after national leader came to power again in 1993. He said the national leader`s policy had successfully been continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
The ambassador noted Azerbaijan, honoring the norms and principles of international law, pursues independent and transparent foreign policy.
He added his country rejects aggression and supports collective security.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the ambassador underlined the dispute must be settled on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Abdullayev underscored development of relationship with the Islamic world and Arabic countries including Kuwait was one of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy priorities. He also praised the economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kuwait.
According to the diplomat, Azerbaijan benefits from the Islamic culture, at the same time makes contributions to developing it.
The ambassador also touched upon the energy policy of Azerbaijan, the country`s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and legal status of the Caspian Sea.
