AZERI AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO SERBIAN PRESIDENT
Baku, March 31 (AZERTAC).Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Romania with concurrent accreditation to Serbia, Eldar Hasanov, has presented his credentials to Serbian president Boris Tadic.
During the talks, the Serbian leader asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
The Serbian president said he had great respect for the Azerbaijani leader.
Boris Tadic noted, in the near future, he will visit Azerbaijan during which a number of agreements are planned to be signed.
He said he would be very pleased to welcome President Ilham Aliyev in his country, as well.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Serbian president said his country backs Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for supporting Serbia on the Kosovo issue.
Tadic also stressed the importance of boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation, saying “I have instructed relevant state bodies to take necessary measures to elevate our friendly and cooperative relations to a new level.”
He also said Serbia was keen to develop political and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, in particular energy sphere.
Eldar Hasanov, in turn, extended President Ilham Aliyev`s greetings to the Serbian leader.
The ambassador briefed Tadic on the economic, social and democratic reforms in his country.
He underscored the Azerbaijani people “fully supports President Ilham Aliyev`s internal and foreign policy.”
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat said Armenia does not honor documents adopted by international organizations, including the UN, CoE and OSCE on complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian forces from the occupied territories.
He added Azerbaijan considers that the dispute must be settled peacefully and on the basis of the principles of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.
Hasanov said the Serbian president`s forthcoming visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing relations between the two countries.

Eldar Hasanov also addressed a conference organized for newly appointed ambassadors to Serbia which were attended by the country`s deputy Prime Minister and foreign and defense ministers.
He said the Azerbaijani leadership attaches great importance to expanding relationship with Serbia.
The official opening of Azerbaijan`s embassy in Serbia will be held on May 28.
