AZERI MM SPEAKER MEETS OSCE PA PRESIDENT
Baku, March 15 (AZERTAC). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has met today visiting OSCE PA President Joao Soares.
Asadov said visits by OSCE`s top officials to Azerbaijan contribute to enhancing bilateral relationship.
He noted Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing cooperation with international organizations including OSCE.
Touching upon the unresolved conflicts in the South Caucasus, the Speaker said they pose threat to the region`s security.
“Armenia, not honoring the UN Security Council`s resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, continues occupation of the Azerbaijani territories.”
Asadov underlined the international community turns blind eye to the fact that for 20 years Armenians had been destructing cultural monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh.
He pointed out the OSCE Minsk Group`s 18-year mediation efforts to settle the dispute have yielded no results.
He added the conflict must be resolved on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
“Official Baku has the right to use all means to liberate its lands, but we believe that, with the help of the OSCE Minsk Group, the problem will be resolved peacefully soon.”
For his part, Soares praised the meetings he held during the visit.
He said OSCE gives great importance to relationship with Azerbaijan.
He also hailed the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation`s work in the OSCE PA.
Soares said during the visit he became familiar with the situation in the region, and vowed to increase efforts to contribute to solution of the existing problems.
Soares also underlined the necessity of settlement of the conflicts in the region in terms of security and development.
