AZERI MPs MEET CZECH COUNTERPARTS IN PRAGUE
Prague, February 17 (AZERTAC). Deputy speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Bahar Muradova and chairwoman of the parliament`s committee on human rights Rabiyyat Aslanova have had here several meetings with their counterparts.
First, they met Czech Senate chairman Premysl Sobotka to discuss how to develop cooperation between the two countries even more.
Sobotka recalled his visit to Azerbaijan he made last year describing it “fruitful.”
They also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Muradova said two countries should share the same stance on some international issues.
Afterwards, Senate Deputy Chairman Jiri Liska hosted a dinner in honor of the Azerbaijani MPs during which the talks focused on bilateral relations, cooperation within international organizations and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Azeri MPs also met Speaker of the Senate`s lower house Miloslav Vlcek who said Czechia attaches special importance to boosting relations with Azerbaijan. He noted the scope of the Czech-Azerbaijan relations should be expanded to cover all spheres.
Vlcek also pointed out his country was ready to play the role of “door” to the European Union for Azerbaijan.
Another meeting of the Azerbaijani delegation was held with members of the Czechia-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.
Head of the group, chairman of the Senate committee on foreign affairs Jan Hamacek said Czechia was interested in deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan which he described as a “leading country in the region.”
He expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to develop.
They also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and cooperation within the OSCE.
During the visit, the delegation also met members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora.
They also viewed, in the Senate building, a photo exhibition co-organized by the Azerbaijan Embassy and Czech MPs featuring the “Bloody January” events.
