Commemoration held for Khojaly Genocide victims in Ankara

A ceremony honoring the victims of the Khojaly genocide was held in Keçiören, Ankara, marking the 34th anniversary of the tragedy. Diplomats, Turkish MPs, international organization representatives, local officials, military cadets, and members of the public attended.
Speakers emphasized that crimes like the Khojaly genocide must never be forgotten and highlighted the importance of unity against impunity and future atrocities. The Azerbaijani ambassador to Turkiye Rashad Mammadov noted that Khojaly residents were killed solely for being Azerbaijani and stressed the importance of preventing such ideologies from spreading. He also condemned double standards in recognizing genocide globally. The event reflected on Azerbaijan’s history during Armenian aggression and celebrated the liberation of occupied territories, including Khojaly.
Participants reaffirmed the commitment to remembering Khojaly and preventing future atrocities. The ceremony concluded with wreath-laying at the monument of Khojaly genocide victims.
