Croatian president visits Icherisheher
Baku, March 13 (AZERTAG). Visiting Azerbaijan, Croatian president Ivo Josipovic and his spouse Tatyana Josipovic have today visited Icherisheher, the Inner City of Baku.
The guests familiarized themselves with the Maiden Tower built in VII-VI centuries BC and restored in XII century. The Tower, 28m in height and 16-16,5m in diameter, comprises of a cylinder-like real tower and a huge supporting construction.
They viewed exposition of stone exhibits at Syrataghly Religious and Architectural Complex discovered in 1964 during archeological excavations in the north of Maiden Tower.
The visitors were informed on Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve, which has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
They also walked through “Kichik Gala” street in the Inner City.
The president also visited the Palace of Shirvanshahs, built in early 15th century and considered one of the landmark architectural monuments of Azerbaijan.
Ivo Josipovic signed the Icherisheher`s guest book, and he was presented with keepsake.
