GNAT SPEAKER ARRIVES IN BAKU
Baku, September 25 (AZERTAC). Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) Mehmet Ali Shahin has today arrived in the Azerbaijani capital for an official visit.
At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, he was welcomed by first vice-speaker of Azerbaijan`s parliament (Milli Majlis) Ziyafat Asgarov and other officials.
Shahin told journalists his trip aims to contribute to boosting political and economic relationship between the two “fraternal countries”, especially interparliamentary ties and to attend a summit of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkish-speaking countries.
Touching upon the protocols on normalization of relationship between Turkey and Armenia, the speaker said “Normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is a part of Turkey`s efforts towards achieving peace and stability in South Caucasus.” He added Turkey will never hurt “our Azerbaijani brothers”.
During the trip the speaker will have a number of meetings in Milli Majlis and the Cabinet of Ministers and travel to the country`s Ganja region.
The speaker will also visit the tomb of Azerbaijan`s nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors and a monument to Turkish soldiers in the Alley of Martyrs.
