Investment in Azerbaijan`s economy grew 30 per cent, President

Baku, July 15 (AZERTAC). “The total volume of investment made in Azerbaijan`s economy saw a 30 per cent growth in the first half of the year,” President Ilham Aliyev has said.

The Head of State spoke at a Cabinet meeting, which he chaired to discuss the results of the country`s socio-economic development in the first half of 2012 and further priorities.

“If we work at such a high rate until the end of the year, we will be able to bring the volume of investment to 18 or even 19 billion dollars. And this is a big figure for a country like Azerbaijan, which has a relatively small population.”

The President noted: “If we take into account that every year our economy sees no less than 10 billion dollars in investment, we will solve all infrastructure and social issues in the years to come.”

“The macroeconomic situation is stable, inflation stood at just 2.2 per cent, while the population`s incomes grew 14.2 per cent. The agricultural sector saw a 10.4 per cent increase in the country in the first six months of 2012,” the Head of State added.
