Kazakhstan hosts jubilee session marking 20th anniversary CIS PA
Baku, March 28 (AZERTAC). A jubilee session marking 20th anniversary of the Parliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS PA) was held in Almaty`s “Friendship House”, Kazakhstan.
The Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov included MPs Arif Rahimzade, Rufat Guliyev, Haji Salayev, Rauf Aliyev, head of the Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzayev.
The parliament speakers from Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Moldova, TurkPA Secretary General Ramil Hasanov and representatives of the international organizations also attended the session.
Senate Speaker Kairat Mami has read out a congratulation letter of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the participants.
Kairat Mami noted that an agreement on establishment of CIS PA was signed on March 27 1992 in Almaty stressing the progress achieved in expanding regional cooperation in the past 20 years.
Chairperson of Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko pointed out the great role of peacemaking efforts in achieving ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria and Abkhazia conflicts and protection of peace and stability in the region.
Speaker Ogtay Asadov underlined that the role of CIS PA in boosting relations in political, economic and cultural spheres is undeniable.
“I am sure that these efforts will be continued,” he added.
The participants discussed the ways of deepening relations among the CIS countries, prospects for cooperation within the framework of CIS PA and the other issues.
Valentina Matviyenko presented “20th anniversary of CIS PA” while Kairat Mami “20th jubilee of Kazakhstan`s independence”jubilee medals to participants and parliament speakers respectively.
The session participants adopted the declaration on the 20th anniversary of the CIS PA.
