Memorial items belonging to missing Azerbaijanis displayed in Brussels
Baku, October 22, AZERTAC
On October 21, Azerbaijani families of missing persons staged a protest in Schuman Square in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The demonstration followed another protest held on October 20 at Place du Luxembourg, in front of the European Parliament.
The events were organized by the “Garabagh Missing Families” Public Union.
During the protests, the demonstrators emphasized that Armenia has yet to clarify the fate of 4,010 missing Azerbaijanis and continues to withhold information about them. They stressed the importance of establishing the fate of missing persons, particularly at a time when the peace agenda is advancing.
The families of missing Azerbaijanis also criticized the European Parliament, accusing it of consistently defending Armenia while never raising the issue of missing Azerbaijanis. They described the institution's position as an example of anachronism and atavism in international relations.
Konul Behbudova, chair of the “Garabagh Missing Families” Public Union, said that protests over the issue of missing persons would continue.
As part of the event, a special installation featuring photographs, items of clothing, and envelopes belonging to missing Azerbaijanis was displayed.
Visitors expressed their solidarity with the families by writing messages of support, tying memorial ribbons, and laying flowers.
