NATO CONSIDERS AZERBAIJAN AS “IMPORTANT PARTNER’
Baku, April 8 (AZERTAC). NATO considers Azerbaijan as its important partner, due to the country`s geostrategical position, active participation in fight against terrorism and its role in ensuring Europe`s energy security, said Romanian ambassador Nicolae Ureche.
Speaking at a meeting to mark NATO`s 61st anniversary held in Azerbaijan University of Languages, the ambassador said the scope of the Alliance`s activity had increased to cover not only security, but also democracy development.
Rector of AUL, MP Samad Seyidov said Azerbaijan had taken important steps towards integration into Europe.
He noted his country attaches special importance to cooperation with international organizations, including NATO.
Seyidov also underlined Azerbaijan was actively participating in NATO`s programs.
The meeting was attended by head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Cooperation with NATO Farrukh Mammadov and AUL`s teaching staff and students.
The participants saw a documentary featuring NATO`s missions.
