PAKISTANI NEWSPAPER PUBLISHES ARTICLE ON NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT
Baku, February 20 (AZERTAC). The Pakistan-based Pulse weekly newspaper has published an article entitled “Nagorno-Karabakh the conflict of the South Caucasus” by professor of the Quaid-e-Azam University Ishtiaq Ahmad.
The article features the history of the conflict and ongoing talks to settle it.
Touching upon the demographic changes in Nagorno-Karabakh, the author says Armenians were moved to the region as a result of the policy pursued by the tsarist Russia.
The article says in the wake of Armenia`s aggressive policy 20 percent of the Azerbaijani territories were occupied and more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven out from their original lands.
“Armenia does not honor four resolutions adopted by the United Nations on unconditional withdrawal of the armed forces from the occupied territories.”
The author says Yerevan, not abiding by the principles of international law, hinders settlement of the conflict.
According to the article, Armenia faces serious economic problems, while Azerbaijan is developing steadily.
The author also says President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev pursues a balanced policy, and always shows constructive position on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
