President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev issued the Decree “On Modernization of Judicial System in Azerbaijan Republic” and Application of the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic “On Amendments and Supplements to Some Legislative Acts of the Azerbaijan Re[public”.

The decree says that the next phase of modernization of the judicial system in the country implies establishments of new courts to meet the populations’ needs for legal institutions and legal assistance under conditions of socio-economic development of regions, elimination of the facts of abuse causing people’s discontent, increase in effectiveness of the justice and citizens’ trust in courts, simplifying the procedures of appealing to courts, applying information technologies in courts’ activities, optimizing structure and activities of courts’ personnel and solving other issues.
